Indian Americans Head to Washington D.C. to Earthquake
Aid Effort
On February 28, 2001, Indian
Americans from every corner of the nation - from all fifty
states, including Alaska and Hawaii - united in
Washington, DC to show the U.S. Congress, the White House and
the American people that they emphatically support the
appropriation of $100 million dollars in emergency assistance
and reconstruction funds to help India recover from the
earthquake catastrophe that struck Gujarat in late January.
